Country walks.
April 20th, 2007Visitors to The Garden Room apreciate the peaceful atmosphere that the out of town setting provides. If time allows, the purposely built paths that border the wildflower meadows ( one of which finishes at the pub!) can provide a useful, relaxed period within a busy schedule. At this time of year the walks are bursting with life. The hedges are filling out with an abundance of green shoots or pretty blossoms. Many new plants infill gaps within established hedges and 2 field boundary hedges have been reinstated. The wild flower meadows, although not yet in flower are beginning to green and grow. Walkers are now asked to keep to paths and leave the field undisturbed for the ground nesting birds. Here at Messuage Farm bird life has increased over the past 5 years, as part of the scheme we have erected 40 nest boxes that can be viewed from the paths. There are special feeding stations for Tree sparrows, and the RSPB have put up additional nest boxes and 2 barn owl boxes. Plenty of bird life can be spotted, Reed buntings, Gold finches, Yellow wagtails and recently the beautiful song of the Sky lark could be heard.
